description abstractThe present paper is an attempt to summarize the results of experimental secondary flow research over the past decade in order to give a full picture of our present knowledge and uncertainties of basic secondary flow aspects. The paper gives a detailed description of secondary flow vortex structures and their effect on end wall boundary layer characteristics and loss growth through straight turbine blade passages.
