description abstractValues of total transmittance were obtained for several rock salt specimens in the natural state ranging from 0.122 to 1.90 in. in length, for black-body radiation in the region of 1475 deg F. The results are seen to fit a previously obtained theoretical formulation for transmittance of light through a diffuse screen. As a result the reflectance of a rock salt slab may be calculated, and the reflectance for an infinitely thick slab is given.
