| description abstract | A numerical solution is presented for the laminar start-up flow in a circular pipe. It is an extension of the Szymanski solution to include a parameter accounting for the head that must be devoted to the acceleration of the flow. Velocity profiles, wall shear stress, mean velocity history, and start-up time constants are given as a function of the new parameter. | |
