    Abstract: The dynamic characteristics of a newly proposed supersonic gas thrust bearing are analyzed under supersonic operations. Its static characteristics in sonic operations are also investigated. It is concluded that the load capacity, the stiffness factor, and the damping factor are increased proportionally to the supply pressure in either supersonic or sonic operation range which is determined according to the magnitude of the clearance.
