description abstractThe purpose of this paper is to present an analysis and a discussion of the design of axially symmetric coupled tube sheets of constant thickness, subject to mechanical and thermal loads. The basic strain-energy expressions and differential equations of the problem are derived. Methods of analysis and design, including a solution of the differential equations and the resulting expressions for bending moments, stress, and so on, are developed. The behavior of the system and its similarity to a sandwich plate are discussed.
