    Ball Contact Locus in an Angular Contact Bearing

    Source: Journal of Tribology:;1983:;volume( 105 ):;issue: 002::page 166
    Author:
    E. P. Kingsbury
    DOI: 10.1115/1.3254557
    Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
    Abstract: The path of contact on the surface of a bearing ball is derived for pure spin and regular precession. Ball-race and ball-ball contacts are considered in a retainerless bearing. Track broadening and equatorial offset are found; quantitative experimental agreement is shown.
