| description abstract | The Power Transmission and Gearing Committee produces a state of the art review paper on gears once every year or two. In this review, assembled by L. S. Akin, three areas are reported upon at this time. R. Errichello gives a report on recent developments in the AGMA gear rating committee and their newest publications on "Gear Bending Stress Analysis," Lotfi El Bayaumy reports on gear noise analysis and prediction. It covers the most recent advances made on navy-sponsored research work under the leadership of Bill Mark of BBN. Finally, the latest developments in gear tooth cooling analysis work being performed by D. P. Townsend at NASA Lewis Research Center and L. S. Akin through California State University Long Beach under NASA sponsorship are discussed. | |
