Process Kinetics as Design Criteria for Bio-Oxidation of Petrochemical Wastes

Source: Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering:;1963:;volume( 085 ):;issue: 002::page 163

    A. W. Busch
    DOI: 10.1115/1.3667619
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Biological oxidation is widely used in industrial waste treatment. In order to achieve economic design, a thorough understanding of the process and its kinetics is necessary. This paper defines the completely mixed, fluidized culture process and its mechanisms. An experimental procedure for establishing design criteria based on process kinetics is presented. An example of data obtained from an actual petrochemical waste using this procedure is illustrated graphically.
