| description abstract | This paper attempts to deduce the growth pattern of aerospace pneumatic control systems, where pneumatic systems are defined as those employing any gas as a working medium. Various important applications responsible for the initial growth of these systems, such as nuclear engine controls, space attitude controls, and flight controls, are illustrated by actual development activities in the fulfillment of well-established requirements. The scope of aerospace pneumatic control systems is defined and their inherent characteristics are expressed in terms of capabilities and limitations. A brief review is made of the various configurations of both the control systems and key components. Some of the significant technological advances in the field of aerospace pneumatic control systems are described. In concluding this paper, the status and the future position of aerospace pneumatic control systems are discussed and evaluated. | |
