| description abstract | The set of equations governing plane strain plasticity are treated here as a system of homogeneous quasi-linear partial differential equations. Characteristics and Riemann invariants are defined and used. It is shown that when a plane strain plasticity problem is mapped in the plane of invariants (Riemann plane), the domain of plasticity is readily identified and a unique solution is facilitated. | |
