    Abstract: A deep drawing test is described for measuring the coefficient of friction between the cylindrical surfaces of the punch and the cup wall. The test is based on an analysis of the stress system in the cylindrical region of contact. Experimental data are presented for steel and aluminum blanks deep-drawn into cups under different lubrication conditions, and the advantages and limitations of the method are discussed.
