description abstractThis paper presents the results of a series of experiments conducted to evaluate the fluid mechanical performance of various two-phase LMMHD mixer designs. The results from both flow visualization studies of the local two-phase flows downstream from various mixer-element configurations and local measurements performed to characterize these flows are presented. A conceptual LMMHD mixer design is described that insures the generation of small bubbles, prevents the formation of gas slugs and separated regions, and favors the stabilization of a homogeneous foam flow.
