description abstractThe purpose of the present Note is to show how the general axisymmetric photoelastic problem can be solved using only the integrated data. Indeed, the axisymmetric problem is reduced to a quasi-plane problem in that only a fringe photograph plus a plot of the family of isoclinics is sufficient to yield a complete solution. The formulation includes the treatment of thermoelastic and residual stress problems.
