| description abstract | ASME Code Case 1828: “A Simplified Method of Analyzing Flat Face Flanges with Metal-to-Metal Contact Outside the Bolt Circle” provides rules for the analysis and design of a wide variety of identical and nonidentical flange pairs. Although the method is based on certain simplifying assumptions, a designer may lose confidence in his solution of a problem because of the multiplicity of steps which are involved. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the application of Code Case 1828 by means of four illustrative problems and supporting discussion. | |
