description abstractA crashworthy package was developed for the air transport of plutonium. The package utilizes redwood, with embedded metal shells, for shock mitigation and fire retardation. The innermost structural element is a pressure vessel, with high sealing integrity under hydrostatic, crush, thermal, ballistic, and corrosive attack. The design was optimized for crash resistance, consonant with practical air transport requirements.
