    Estimation of the Mechanical Properties of Fluid-Saturated Rocks Using the Measured Wave Motions

    Abstract: A method for determining the material properties of a fluid-saturated rock via the measured wave motions is presented in this paper. The essence of the method is to compare the dispersive characteristics of the measured wave motions with that predicted by the Biot’s theory. The material properties of water-saturated Berea sandstone determined by this method agree, in general, with that determined from the standard laboratory test.
