Abstract: Analytical and numerical solutions are obtained for temperature distributions in a finite and inhomogeneous perfused medium with internal heat generation. Extensive numerical simultations are carried out using parameters characteristic of a solid tumor, Walker 256 carcinoma. The results obtained adequately describe the existing data on temperature distributions in tumors under two different conditions: (i) tumors under normal conditions, and (ii) tumors grown about and subsequently heated by a spherical heat source implanted in their center.
