description abstractThe recently developed continuum mixture theories of fibrous composites are further extended to determine the interfacial shear stresses that develop in such composites upon their dynamic loadings. Exact results are not possible. Two special cases are however discussed in details. In the first, one of the composite constituents is assumed rigid and in the second both constituents are assumed elastic and results are obtained at the wave fronts.
