description abstractThis report presents theoretical and experimental data on the buckling of short, homogeneous, isotropic circular cylinders subjected to simultaneous loading of axial compression and hydrostatic pressure. Of major significance is the drastic change from “concave” to “convex” interactive behavior as the Z parameter is decreased. This phenomenon is demonstrated for both clamped and simply supported boundary conditions.
