| description abstract | A new method of making wire is discussed in which cutting and forming are combined into one process. A chip is first obtained by cutting a billet using a specially designed cutting tool. This chip immediately enters a circular die adjacent to the cutting edge of the tool and is forced past the orifice of the die by the cutting force. The chip leaving the orifice is in the form of a perfectly round wire. | |
