| description abstract | This paper discusses the propagation of pressure surge phenomena in liquids contained in thick-walled pipes and ducts of rectangular cross section. It is shown that the effects of shear forces and side wall elongation should be considered in calculating the velocity of surge propagation in such conduits. Experimental data from three pipelines are included and compared with the theoretical predictions. | |
