| description abstract | The role of grout cohesive and adhesive strengths on the mechanical properties of silicate-grouted sands was investigated. Ottawa 20-30 sand, lime aggregate, and sodium silicate grout with organic reagents were used in this study. An adhesive-tension test was used to evaluate the strength of grout-sand interface for up to 2 years of curing time. A stiffness model for particulate composites was modified to account for grout-particle interaction and then used to predict the modulus of grouted sand. A phenomenological approach was used to develop a model for the grouted-sand strength in terms of the grout cohesive and adhesive strengths. | |
