Abstract: GM, Ford, and other automakers are chasing Tesla in the manufacture and marketing of electric vehicles. In turn this is sparking an upheaval the auto industry has not seen since Henry Ford’s Model T, which introduced manufacturing to the assembly line, and its effects are roiling the parts supply industry.
