description abstractIn this communication, a theoretical thermal model has been developed by using basic energy balance equation for outdoor swimming pool in terms of design and climatic parameters. An analytical expression for swimming pool water temperature has been obtained to optimize the design parameters to get an optimum temperature of swimming pool by using solar energy. For general analysis, an integration of photo-voltaic thermal (PVT)-compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) collectors with swimming pool water has been proposed along with special cases, namely, (i) evacuated tube collectors, (ii) conventional flat plate collectors (FPCs), (iii) CPC–FPCs, and (iv) PVT flat plate collectors. Numerical computations have been carried out for cold climatic condition of Srinagar, India. The effect of sensitive parameters on thermal and electrical performance of swimming pool has also been carried out.
