ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

The Pulsation Method for Generating Cavitation Damage
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Results are presented for the cavitation damage of materials by a laboratory procedure in which the cavitation is applied in an intermittent, or pulsed, manner. It is found that the rate of ...

Prediction of the Low Cycle Fatigue Life of Pressure Vessels
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The bases for ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, fatigue evaluation procedures, the fracture mechanics approach to fatigue life analysis, and the notch stress analysis method are ...
Unsteady Flow in Cavitating Turbopumps
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Unsteady flow in a cavitating axial inducer pump is analyzed with the help of a simple two-dimensional cascade model. This problem was motivated by a desire to study the effect of unsteady ...
Performance of a Supercavitating Jet-Flapped Hydrofoil Operating at Arbitrary Submergence
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The flow around an arbitrary supercavitating, jet-flapped hydrofoil operating at an arbitrary submergence is analyzed by a second order theory and the following results are obtained; (i) The ...
The Response of Nonlinear Closed-Loop Systems to Random Inputs
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A dual-input describing function (DIDF) is derived for sine waves and Guassian noise. The derivation follows the correlation method used in [1]. In this paper only single-valued nonlinearities ...

A Note on the Transition Observations on an Axisymmetric Body and Some Related Fluctuating Wall Pressure Measurements
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Boundary layer transition on an axisymmetric body up to Reynolds number of 1.26 × 106 was observed by schlieren method of flow visualization developed for water tunnel use. The spectrum ...
