ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Torsional Vibrations and Dynamic Loads in a Basic Planetary Gear System
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An interative method has been developed for analyzing dynamic loads in a light weight basic planetary gear system. The effects of fixed, semi-floating, and fully-floating sun gear conditions ...
The Adaptation of Kron’s Method for Use With Large Finite-Element Models
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Kron’s method of dynamic substructure coupling is modified and extended to a form which is well suited for use with large finite-element substructure models. It is shown how both mass condensation ...
Autoparametric Vibration of Coupled Beams Under Random Support Motion
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The dynamic response of a two degree-of-freedom system with autoparametric coupling to a wide band random excitation is investigated. The analytical modeling includes quadratic nonlinearity, and ...
Finite Elements: Mathematical Aspects (Volume IV)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
New Power Transmission Chain Design
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Precision multiple roller power transmissions are investigated in this work. These chains transfer significant power and move with very high velocity. They are subjected to variable loading with ...
Calculation of Mixed Mode Fracture Stress Intensity Factors in an Orthotropic Plate Using Finite Element Technique
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A finite element technique using the eight-node quadrilateral isoparametric element is presented to calculate stress intensity factors in orthotropic plates. The procedure is general so as to ...
A Design Guide Proposal for Avoidance of Acoustic Resonances in In-Line Heat Exchangers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A variety of methods for the prediction of acoustic resonances in heat exchangers are recommended in the literature. There is currently no clear guideline available to designers for the avoidance ...
Coupling Between Spans in the Vibration of Axially Moving Materials
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Axially moving materials (e.g., belts, chains, bandsaws, paper and magnetic tapes, etc.) arise in various mechanical systems, and their vibration and stability are often of engineering significance. ...
Modeling General Hysteresis Behavior and Random Vibration Application
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A simple constructive technique for the development of rate-type hysteresis models for general nonlinear system is presented. The technique is used to develop hysteresis models to incorporate ...
