ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Development of Novel Self Healing Polymer Composites for Use in Wind Turbine Blades
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Wind turbine blades undergo fatigue and their performance depletes as time progresses due to the formation of internal cracks. Selfhealing in polymers is a unique characteristic used to heal the cracks inherently as they ...
Advances in Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine Blade Designs: Introduction of Slots and Tubercle
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Despite being harvested thousands of years ago, wind energy was neglected during the industrial revolution because of the strong dependence on fossil fuels. However, after the alarming decrease in the fossil fuels reserves, ...
Investigation of Flow Over an Airfoil Using a Hybrid Detached Eddy Simulation–Algebraic Stress Turbulence Model
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Turbulent air flow over an NACA 4412 airfoil is investigated computationally. To overcome the near-wall inaccuracies of higher order turbulence models such as large Eddy simulation (LES) and detached Eddy simulation (DES), ...
Self-Healing of Wind Turbine Blades Using Microscale Vascular Vessels
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Development of high bending stresses due to a sudden gust of wind is a significant cause for the failure of wind turbine blades. Self-healing provides a fool proof safety measure against catastrophic failure by healing the ...
Improvement of Aerodynamic Performance of Cambered Airfoils Using Leading-Edge Slots
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Feasibility of increasing lift and decreasing drag by drilling narrow span-wide channels near the leading edge of NACA 4412 airfoils is investigated. It is proposed to drill two-segment slots that allow some of the incoming ...
Effects of Asymmetric Radial Clearance on Performance of a Centrifugal Compressor
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The centrifugal compressors are widely used in industrial applications. The design, manufacturing, and installation are all critical for the compressor performance. Many studies have been carried out in the past to optimize ...
Effectiveness of Central Swirlers in the Thermal Uniformity of Jet-in-Crossflow Mixing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The present paper introduces the analysis-led-design concept in attaining the thermal homogeneity at the exit section of a mixing chamber. Staggered holes (SH) chamber type is representing jet-in-crossflow (JICF) where ...
Investigation of Liquid Breakup Process Solid Rocket Motor Part B: Vertical C-D Nozzle
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Aluminized propellants are frequently used in solid rocket motors (SRMs) to increase specific impulse. However, as the propellant combusts, the aluminum is oxidized into aluminum oxide (Al2O3), it agglomerates into molten ...
Self-Healing of Wind Turbine Blades by Pressurized Delivery of Healing Agent
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Self-healing is a promising way to solve the difficulty in wind turbine blades repair, yet the embedded healing agent may have a disadvantage because of being exposed to outdoor for a long time. Pressurized delivery of the ...
Design and Analysis of Energy-Efficient Low-Flow Centrifugal Compressors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: With the increasing demands of energy-saving from industries, the low-flow coefficient and low specific speed centrifugal compressors have gained more attention. The design of this type of compressor faced many challenges, ...
