ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Abstract: In the companion paper (Ayyub et al., 2016, “Risk Assessment Methodology for ElectricCurrent Induced Drowning Accidents,†ASCEASME J. Risk Uncertainty Eng. Syst. Part B Mech. Eng., 3(3), pp. XXXXXX.), the authors ...
Risk Assessment Methodology for Electric Current Induced Drowning Accidents
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a methodology to identify hazards associated with electricinduced drowning and electric shocks for swimmers around docks, houseboats, and other boats in both freshwater and saltwater; assesses scenarios ...
Structural Life Expectancy of Marine Vessels: Ultimate Strength, Corrosion, Fatigue, Fracture, and Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper provides a methodology for the structural reliability analysis of marine vessels based on failure modes of their hull girders, stiffened panels including buckling, fatigue, and fracture and corresponding life ...
Risk Models for Evaluation and Type Classification of Personal Flotation Devices
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents proposed models for assessing the aggregate performance of personal flotation devices (PFDs) by using risk methods. The aggregate performance is used to quantify the probability of a PFD saving lives ...
