ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Endwall Heat Transfer Measurements in a Transonic Turbine Cascade
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Turbine blade endwall heat transfer measurements are presented for a range of Reynolds and Mach numbers. Data were obtained for Reynolds numbers based on inlet conditions of 0.5 and 1.0 × ...
Experimental Determination of Stator Endwall Heat Transfer
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Local Stanton numbers were experimentally determined for the endwall surface of a turbine vane passage. A six-vane linear cascade having vanes with an axial chord of 13.81 cm was used. Results ...
Heat Transfer Predictions for Two Turbine Nozzle Geometries at High Reynolds and Mach Numbers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Predictions of turbine vane and endwall heat transfer and pressure distributions are compared with experimental measurements for two vane geometries. The differences in geometries were due to ...
Grid Orthogonality Effects on Predicted Turbine Midspan Heat Transfer and Performance
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The effect of five different C-type grid geometries on the predicted heat transfer and aerodynamic performance of a turbine stator is examined. Predictions were obtained using two flow analysis ...
Navier–Stokes Analysis of Turbine Blade Heat Transfer
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Comparisons with experimental heat transfer and surface pressures were made for seven turbine vane and blade geometries using a quasi-three-dimensional thin-layer Navier–Stokes analysis. Comparisons ...
The Transport of Vortices Through a Turbine Cascade
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An experiment was conducted to determine how incident vortices created by upstream blade rows interacted with a downstream turbine cascade. Specifically, the kinematics of the vortex transport ...
Time-Averaged Heat Transfer and Pressure Measurements and Comparison With Prediction for a Two-Stage Turbine
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Time-averaged Stanton number and surface-pressure distributions are reported for the first-stage vane row and the first-stage blade row of the Rocketdyne Space Shuttle Main Engine two-stage fuel-side ...
Prediction of Surface Roughness and Incidence Effects on Turbine Performance
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The use of a Navier–Stokes analysis to predict the change in turbine efficiency resulting from changes in blade surface roughness or incidence flow angles is discussed. The results of a midspan ...
Mach Number Effects on Turbine Blade Transition Length Prediction
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The effect of a Mach number correction on a model for predicting the length of transition was investigated. The transition length decreases as the turbulent spot production rate increases. Many ...
Simplified Approach to Predicting Rough Surface Transition
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Turbine vane heat transfer predictions are given for smooth and rough vanes where the experimental data show transition moving forward on the vane as the surface roughness physical height ...
