ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Survey of Experimental Data for Fixed Geometry Hydrodynamic Journal Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An extensive survey of the experimental research on the static and/or dynamic characteristics of fixed geometry, hydrodynamic journal bearings, available in English, in the open literature is ...
Transient Response of Floating Ring Liquid Seals
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The design and analysis of pressure balanced seals are important to the designers and users of turbomachinery which require floating element seals. The design objective for compressor seals ...

Four Pad Tilting Pad Bearing Design and Application for Multistage Axial Compressors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The advantages of operating multistage axial compressors on 4 pad tilting pad bearings are discussed and compared to other fixed bore and tilting pad bearing designs. These advantages include ...
Evaluation of Pivot Stiffness for Typical Tilting-Pad Journal Bearing Designs
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The manufacturers of high speed turbomachinery are concerned with the accurate prediction of rotor response and stability. One major factor in the placement of system critical speeds and ...
Advanced Analysis of Multi-Ring Liquid Seals
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The equilibrium position of multi-ring seal assemblies is of major importance to the designer of high pressure centrifugal compressors. Typical computer codes now use a curve-fit of the Short ...
Theory and Guidelines to Proper Coupling Design for Rotor Dynamics Considerations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The use of couplings for high-speed turbocompressors or pumps is essential to transmit power from the driver. Typical couplings are either of the lubricated gear or dry diaphragm type design. ...
Evaluation of Aerodynamic Instability Mechanisms for Centrifugal Compressors—Part I: Current Theory
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Current theories of calculating levels of aerodynamic excitation are reviewed and methods of applying these results to actual compressor designs are discussed in detail. Comparison of compressor ...
Evaluation of Aerodynamic Instability Mechanisms for Centrifugal Compressors—Part II: Advanced Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The results of advanced analysis for labyrinth seal dynamic characteristics are compared to current methods of calculating aerodynamic excitation and to test rig data published in the literature ...
