ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Controllability and Observability of Linear Matrix-Second-Order Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper studies the controllability and observability of the system Mq̈ + Gq̇ + Kq = Bu , where M is symmetric and positive-definite, G is skew-symmetric and K is symmetric. In all cases, ...
Determination of Critical Parameters in Large Flexible Space Structures With Uncertain Modal Data
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper addresses the problem of control design for large flexible space structures with uncertain modal data. The concepts of modal cost analysis are applied to flexible space structures ...
Convergence Properties of Modal Costs for Certain Distributed Parameter Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A complete modal cost analysis is presented for the vibration of various kinds of simple continua with different boundary conditions. Explicit formulas for the total cost are derived for these ...
Optimal Redesign of Linear Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper proposes a redesign procedure for linear systems. We suppose that an initial satisfactory controller which yields the desired performance is given. Then both the plant and the ...
Modal Cost Analysis for Linear Matrix-Second-Order Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Reduced models and reduced controllers for systems governed by matrix-second-order differential equations are obtained by retaining those modes which make the largest contributions to quadratic ...
Selection of Dynamic Sensors and Actuators in the Control of Linear Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper selects sensors and actuators (location, type, and number) from an admissible set. We seek an approximate solution to this integer programming problem. Given the optimal use of the ...
