ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Experimental Load Capacity and Power Loss of Herringbone Grooved Gas Lubricated Journal Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Load capacity, attitude angle, and power loss were determined for 1 1/2-in-dia herringbone grooved journal bearings operating in air to speeds of 60,000 rpm. Results showed that groove-to-ridge-clearance ...
Zero-Load Stability of Rotating Externally Pressurized Gas-Lubricated Journal Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A small eccentricity analysis was performed for a bearing having two feeding planes, each of which is assumed to be a line source. Numerical results were obtained for a range of bearing ...
Steady-State Experiments on Rotating Externally Pressurized Air-Lubricated Journal Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Experimental load, stiffness and attitude angle data for a pair of 2 1/2-in-dia, 3 3/4-in-long externally pressurized air journal bearings are compared with two small eccentricity perturbation ...
Dynamic Behavior of an Inherently Compensated Air Squeeze Film Damper
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Experimental values of damping and stiffness were determined for an externally pressurized, inherently compensated, compressible squeeze-film damper up to excitation frequencies of 36,000 cycles/min. ...
Steady-State Unbalance Response of a Three-Disk Flexible Rotor on Flexible, Damped Supports
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Experimental data are presented for the unbalance response of a flexible, ball bearing supported rotor to speeds above the third lateral bending critical. Values of squeeze film damping coefficients ...
