ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Revised International Representations for the Viscosity of Water and Steam and New Representations for the Surface Tension of Water
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The Eighth International Conference on the Properties of Steam has adopted a new skeleton table and formulation for viscosity. The formulation is valid from the triple point to 1100 K (∼2000 ...

Numerical and Analytical Study of Fluid Dynamic Forces in Seals and Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A numerical model based on a transformed, conservative form of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and an analytical model based on “lumped” fluid parameters are presented and compared ...
Discussion: “Theory Versus Experiment for the Rotordynamic Coefficients of Annular Gas Seals: Part 1—Test Facility and Apparatus” (Childs, D. W., Nelson, C. E., Nicks, C., Scharrer, J., Elrod, D., and Hale, K., 1986, 108, pp. 426–431)

Studies of Flows Through N-Sequential Orifices
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Critical mass flux and axial pressure profile data for fluid nitrogen are presented for N = 20, 15, 10, and 7 N-sequential-orifice-inlet configurations uniformly spaced at 15.5 cm. These data ...
A Fully Coupled Variable Properties Thermohydraulic Model for a Cryogenic Hydrostatic Journal Bearing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The goal set forth here is to continue the work started by Braun et al. [11] and present an integrated analysis of the behavior of the two row, 20 staggered pockets, hydrostatic cryogenic ...
Heat Transfer in Thermal Barrier Coated Rods With Circumferential and Radial Temperature Gradients
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To study the heat transfer in ceramic coatings applied to the heated side of internally cooled hot section components of the gas turbine engine, a mathematical model is developed for the ...
Brush Seal Leakage Performance With Gaseous Working Fluids at Static and Low Rotor Speed Conditions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The leakage performance of a brush seal with gaseous working fluids at static and low rotor speed conditions was investigated. This report includes the leakage results for air, helium, and ...
