ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Full-Scale Wind Turbine Near-Wake Measurements Using an Instrumented Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, the first-ever measurements of the wake of a full-scale wind turbine using an instrumented uninhabited aerial vehicle (UAV) are reported. The key enabler for this novel measurement ...
An Immersed Boundary Method for Simulation of Wind Flow Over Complex Terrain
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The accurate modeling of the wind resource over complex terrain is required to optimize the micrositing of wind turbines. In this paper, an immersed boundary method that is used in connection ...
The Impact of Ice Formation on Wind Turbine Performance and Aerodynamics
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Wind energy is the world’s fastest growing source of electricity production; if this trend is to continue, sites that are plentiful in terms of wind velocity must be efficiently utilized. Many ...
Impact of Time-Resolved Entropy Measurement on a One-and-One-Half-Stage Axial Turbine Performance
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An accurate assessment of unsteady interactions in turbines is required, so that this may be taken into account in the design of the turbine. This assessment is required since the efficiency ...
Unsteady Entropy Measurements in a High-Speed Radial Compressor
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The time-dependent relative entropy field at the impeller exit of a centrifugal compressor is measured. This study is part of a broader effort to develop comprehensive measurement techniques ...
Seven-Sensor Fast-Response Probe for Full-Scale Wind Turbine Flowfield Measurements
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The unsteady wind profile in the atmospheric boundary layer upstream of a modern wind turbine is measured. The measurements are accomplished using a novel measurement approach that is comprised ...
