ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Design of Four-Bar Function Generators With Mini-Max Transmission Angle
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A new method of designing four-bar function generators with optimum transmission angle is presented. Transmission angles are considered optimum, in a mini-max sense, when their extreme values ...
Design Considerations for Manipulator Workspace
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper introduces some basic concepts regarding the workspaces of manipulators. The first part gives a general discussion regarding workspace shapes. Most of the rest of the paper focuses ...
Synthesis of Bimodal Function Generating Mechanisms Without Branch Defect
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A theory is proposed for the synthesis of bimodal function generators which are free from the branch defect. It is applicable to planar as well as spatial linkages. Precision type synthesis ...
Development of Cam Profiles Using the Convolution Operator
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A new method for designing cam profiles which modifies the residual vibration spectrum in a desired way is presented. This method utilizes the convolution operator to modify the dynamic properties ...
Design of Quick-Returning R-S-S-R Mechanisms
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An algebraic method is presented to synthesize quick-returning R-S-S-R mechanisms which satisfy the given time-ratio and follower oscillation angle requirements. In these designs, the three parameters, ...
Design of Mechanisms Via Constrained Least-Squares Method and Its Variants
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Based on the design equation of mechanism and the least-squares techniques, a rapidly convergent iteration method and simple direct methods for the synthesis of mechanisms are presented. It is ...
A General Approximation Theory for Mechanism Synthesis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: It is shown how to determine those points, in a system under planar motion, which have trajectories which over a given range best approximate circles and straight lines. These points are best ...
Design and Evaluation of Drag-Link Driven Cams
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A systematic and rational method for designing drag-link driven cams for the purpose of modifying cam timing has been presented in this paper. In addition, two possible approaches for designing ...
Mechanism Design with MP-Neural Networks
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The prevalent Mathematical Programming Neural Network (MPNN) models are surveyed, and MPNN models have been developed and applied to the unconstrained optimization of mechanisms. Algorithms which ...
Measures of Positional Error for a Rigid Body
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Properties of Euclidean error measures for rigid body position are investigated. For two positions represented by 4 × 4 matrices A1 and A2 , it is shown that matrices [A2 − A1 ] and ...
