ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Vibrations of Long Marine Pipes due to Vortex Shedding
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Lateral vibrational displacements and accelerations due to vortex shedding are analyzed for very long marine pipes with a bottom end mass for application to deep ocean-mining lift pipes. Estimates ...
Erratum: “Vibrations of Long Marine Pipes due to Vortex Shedding” (Journal of Energy Resources Technology, 1981, 103, pp. 231–236)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Nonlinear Transient Motion of Deep Ocean Mining Pipe
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: For accurate and economic time-domain analysis of deep ocean pipes, a realistic representation of hydrodynamic forces along the pipe and an efficient numerical method are required. A transient ...
Axial Stretching Oscillation of an 18,000-Ft Vertical Pipe in the Ocean
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: For a long pipe in deep ocean with the equipment attached to its free bottom end, the bottom end oscillation can be amplified near resonance several times the top end oscillation amplitude. ...
Vortex-Shedding Response of Long Cylindrical Structures in Shear Flow
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The response of cylindrical structures to vortex shedding in a vertically sheared cross flow is analyzed. In contrast to the uniform cross-flow case, shear flow can excite more than one modal ...
