ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Oscillatory Flow Phenomena in Diffusers at Low Reynolds Numbers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In studies of a diffuser operating with inlet flow oscillations, it has been found that large amplification of the inlet velocity oscillations occurs within the diffuser when the throat Reynolds ...
Discussion: “Friction Drag on Bladed Disks in Housings as a Function of Reynolds Number, Axial and Radial Clearance, and Blade Aspect Ratio and Solidity” (Mann, Robert W., and Marston, Charles H., 1961, ASME J. Basic Eng., 83, pp. 719–723)

Laminar Boundary Layers in Oscillatory Flow
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A study has been made of the effects of free stream oscillations on laminar boundary layers of the Howarth type. Detailed measurements of oscillations have been made for the two conditions ...
An Analytical and Experimental Study of Air-Lift Pump Performance
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A one-dimensional analysis of air-lift pump performance in shallow water has been developed which includes the effects of friction and slip between the gas and the liquid. The theory predicts ...
Inlet Distortion Effects in Axial Compressors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Although uniform inlet conditions are highly desirable and system designers attempt to insure distortion-free flow entering compressors, situations frequently arise in which substantial total pressure, ...
Rotating Stall and Surge
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Safe off-design operation of compressors is limited to the region in which the flow is stable. Flow instabilities can be of two types, rotating stall and surge. The first of these subjects ...
Instabilities in the Flow of a Boiling Liquid
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The time-varying flow of a boiling liquid through a series of ducts and heaters is considered for the case where the flow rate is controlled by a downstream orifice. It is shown that ...
Switching Dynamics of Bistable Fluidic Amplifiers With Low Setbacks
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The transient switching of a model bistable fluidic amplifier with low setbacks and variable configuration has been studied. The amplifier was of conventional design with straight and convex ...
