ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Assessment of Convective Heat Transfer Characteristics for Elliptical-Shaped Pin-Roughened Surface for the Jet Impingement Cooling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In a jet impingement cooling (JIC) system, the layout of the target surface and length of the jet holes can change both the flow field and the heat transfer characteristics. Elliptical-shaped pins (ESPs) with different ...
Experimental Investigations on Heat Transfer Deterioration for Vertical Flow of Supercritical Carbon-Dioxide Under Natural Circulation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Many upcoming designs of nuclear reactors conceptualize use of supercritical fluids (SCFs) due to certain associated advantages. Supercritical helium (SC-He), supercritical carbon-dioxide (SC-CO2), and supercritical water ...
Transient Three-Dimensional Thermal Simulation of a Fin Field-Effect Transistor With Electron–Phonon Heat Generation, Three Phonon Scattering, and Drift With Periodic Switching
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The International Roadmap for Devices and Systems shows Fin field-effect transistor (FET) array transistors as the mainstream structure for logic devices. Traditional methods of Fourier heat transfer analysis that are ...
Magnetohydrodynamic Natural Convection of Water in an L-Shaped Container Filled With an Aluminum Metal Foam
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The current research employed computational simulation to assess magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) natural convection in an L-shaped container with a metal foam, which has a variety of engineering applications. The originality of ...
Drying of a Fully Saturated Porous Medium With Excess Water Layers: A Numerical Study
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Drying of moist porous media can be very energy inefficient. For example, in the pulp and paper industry, paper drying consumes more than two-thirds of the total energy used in paper machines. Novel drying technologies can ...
Traveling of Oscillating Vortices and Its Thermal Effects in a Bending Channel
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Driven by the periodical reverse of flow orientation, vortices in oscillatory flow induce a local high-speed and low-pressure flow region near the wall, which brings complex physical phenomena to viscous dissipation and ...
Computational Fluid Dynamics Study of Thermo-Fluid Characteristics of Solar Air Heater Duct Using W-Shaped Rib Roughened Collector Plate
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study analyzes the thermo-fluid characteristics of the solar air heater duct (SAHD) consisting of W-shaped transverse ribs on the collector plate. The results of the study are presented with the appearance of Nusselt ...
Effects of Sloshing Motions on Condensation Heat Transfer Characteristics of Integral-Fin Tubes Under Sea Conditions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Integral-fin tubes with high heat transfer capability are a promising solution for improving the compactness of condensers used in the exploitation of offshore natural gas at sea, and the sloshing motions including rolling ...
A Simple Correlation for Horizontal Microfin Tube Convective Boiling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a simple correlation containing nine dimensionless parameters to predict the local convective boiling heat transfer within a microfin tube that was developed from a dataset that included a wide range ...
Effect of Offset Ratio and Plate Motion on Conjugate Heat Transfer in a Turbulent Offset Jet Flow Over the Heated Plate
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The present investigation focuses on studying the conjugate heat transfer behavior for a turbulent offset jet flow over a heated plate moving uniformly in a positive axial direction. Heat transfer from heated walls to ...
