description abstract | This study deals with the transfer of kinetic energy from an array of primary jets to a surrounding secondary stream. It explores the basic features of such flows and examines to what extent the results of single jet research may be applied to multiple jet configurations. It presents an analytical technique for estimating the performance of multiple jets and examines in a special multiple-jet test facility the validity of the assumptions used in the analysis. In addition, performance data are presented for a multiple array of 31 primary jets of 1/2 in. ID in a 12 in. ID mixing chamber covering a range of jet velocities up to 186 ft/sec and primary to secondary flow velocity ratios from 2.8:1 to 5:1. | |
