description abstractThe second-order inviscid flow past axisymmetric cones has been determined. The Legendre functions (of fractional degree) and their derivatives appearing in the solution have been accurately evaluated. This solution is used to determine the displacement thickness corrections to the boundary layer on the cone. It is found that this correction is not zero for the cone of general included angle, but vanishes as the cone approaches a vanishingly thin needle.
