description abstractThe effects of the musculature of the back and the bending stiffness of the spine are considered in a model for spinal column response to lateral deceleration. It is found that the effect of bending stiffness is negligible except at the ends of the spinal column and a perturbation solution based on this assumption is obtained and typical results are reported.
