description abstractSome considerations on elastomer mount design in vibration isolation when both the machine and foundation have many resonances are presented, and possibilities for improvement on the mount performance are discussed. A lower bound of the effectiveness of a mount in the frequency range embracing these structural resonances is used as a measure of its performance. This lower bound is obtained as a function of the mount parameters as well as the driving-point characteristics of the machine and the foundation. Based on the enhancement of this quantity, a simple and straightforward approach can be formulated to augment the conventional mount design.
