    Abstract: The influence of tangential fluid injection on the performance of inherently stalled, two-dimensional diffusers is examined both analytically and experimentally. In particular, the effects of injection flow rate, slot size, and blowing system efficiency on pressure recovery characteristics are investigated. A finite-difference method of analysis based on a model suggested by Patankar and Spalding is used to predict diffuser performance with jet blowing for purposes of comparison with the experimental results. The analysis is also utilized to predict the influence of variations in injection slot location and jet velocity profile shape on overall performance. The results show that significant increases in diffuser performance can occur with fluid injection, even when jet blowing power requirements are taken into account.
