description abstract | Designing the variableinput speed of an existing mechanism could improve the output kinematic and dynamic characteristics of a machine. Based on this concept, this paper proposes a method to improve the kinematic and dynamic characteristics of a compound mechanism. It starts deriving with an analysis model of the kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the compound mechanism. Bezier functions with control points are used to design the variable input of the compound mechanism; and the control points and the kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the compound mechanism are determined by solving the optimal function in the optimization toolbox of matlab. Furthermore, the proposed method is illustrated by two design examples. The results show that the output kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the existing machine can be improved by designing the variableinput speed with Bezier functions. | |
