description abstractThe generation of approximate periodic solutions for certain ordinary nonlinear differential equations is considered. Three different minimization criteria are discussed within the context of a generalized equivalent equation type of analysis. The three minimization criteria are mean square, mean modulus, and extreme modulus minimization. Examples are used to investigate the relative merit of these minimization criteria.
