    Abstract: The results obtained through experiments on models concerning the phenomena of hysteresis characteristics of Francis pump-turbines generated when operated as turbine are described in the present report. It has made clear the fact that the condition for generating the phenomena is regulated by cavitation factor and guidevane openings and affected by the specific speed of a pump-turbine; furthermore, some characteristics of the flow state within a runner are pointed out.
