description abstractA combination of the numerical technique of Chorin for the solution of the Navier-Stokes equations and a transformation of the initial value problem to a boundary value problem is shown to allow calculation of the laminar hydrodynamic entrance region of ducts of arbitrary cross section. Numerical examples consisting of the solution for ducts of square and triangular cross sections are presented along with the associated friction factors.
