description abstractA general analysis of the resistance to rotation of disks at high Reynolds numbers is presented. The theoretical calculations of the fluid-induced torque on free and enclosed, smooth and rough disks, as well as torque induced by the dilute polymer solutions, are found to be in good agreement with experimental results.
