    Design and Quick Formability Analysis of Autopanel at Preliminary Design Stage

    Abstract: An updated inverse approach with discrete Kirchhoff quadrilateral (DKQ) element is proposed to consider actual process conditions such as friction, blank-holder force, pad force, and drawbead restraining force, which improves the calculation accuracy and extends the application scopes of the inverse approach. Based on the updated approach, a trimming line design and flanging analysis method are proposed. These methods can be used in autopanel virtual manufacturing, rapid design, and manufacturing as quick simulation and optimization tools. Some practical examples are presented to verify the accuracy and the efficiency of the methods.
