    Abstract: Solutions are developed for bending and buckling of a circular ring with an arbitrary section under several types of loading. It is found that in-plane and out-of-plane deformations are coupled. In-plane loads cause out-of-plane deformations, and loads normal to the plane of the ring cause in-plane deformations. The solutions reduce to known results from strength of materials in special cases.
